You have got to be...

...either CRAZY!!! or just really have a somewhat strange sense of humor. I mean, really, sometimes, I have to wonder...

After driving around here for a few months, I've seen some pretty strange street signs!!! I haven't been able to get pictures of any of them, but, I made sure to write them down. ;)

  1. Lame Johnny Road.... Poor Johnny. :(
  2. Ruby Gulch Road
  3. China Gulch Road  I'm beginning to sense that there are a lot of gulches around here...
  4. Rocky Road.... Yes, I'm serious! And it was in reality, a gravel road!
  5. Klondike Road... Yummy!!!!
  6. Pink Cabin Road...( seriously!?!?! 'pink cabin'!)
  7. Song Dog Road... Ok!
  8. Four Wheel Drive... dead serious, I did not make these up!

Just thought that this was rather funny, and that you all would enjoy this. :)

Rebekah

Custer State Park Day 1

We had a friend come to visit us, so we used that as an excuse (finally) to go to Custer State Park. The plan was after church and lunch, to go do both the Needles Loop and the Wildlife Loop, and then go home and eat dinner. Our friend had evening plans, and needed to be at his destination by a quarter to 7. After windy and hilly roads, motion sick gals (not Mom), a hot back seat, realizing that 'driving' was taking much longer then we thought ( like I said, hilly, windy roads, and stopping to take pictures), and running short on time, we turned around and went home instead of finishing the loop. On the way home, as we traveled down and around the road we had just came, we began to smell a, well, a stink. Coming from a car. But we weren't sure if it was our car, or the extremely slow one in front of us. Needless to say, after stopping, popping the hood, and seeing smoke, and the smell getting worse with the slow car no where in site, we decided it was our car. So, instead of continuing to drive on the windy, hilly road, we took the not-so-windy-or-hilly-but-paved-with-dirt 8 mile road.
Point being, Dad went to get brake fluid the next morning, and we went to do the Wildlife Loop the next day, along with lunch in Keystone, Mount Rushmore and a quick stop at Crazy Horse.

I will do will plan on three posts, but since we have school, no telling when they will make in up. :)
The first post will be Custer State Park Day 1. The second post will be Custer State Park Day 2. And the third (because numbers go in that order) will be Keystone, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. So, without further ado, Custer State Park, Day 1.

FYI, most of these pictures were taken in the car.

Yes, I just used an FYI. Believe it!

There were a total of six one way tunnels like this on the Needles Loop. They were cool, yet scary because on some of them, you couldn't see if a car was coming from the other direction.

Those were all pictures of trees and mountains and sky.
Just in case you couldn't tell...

Mmmmeeeeee!!!!!!

Like I said, they were taken in the car...

I'm not good at narrowing it down. That may be good, that may be bad.

My brother.

A not-very-good picture of the Needles Eye. (Hence the Needles Loop)

Not important mountains. (Come on have some pity! How come they name some, but not others! Every person has a name, why shouldn't every mountain!?!)
^My not so good attempt at a joke. Some are born with it, other, just... aren't.^

Another one-way, narrow tunnel. (Hint for going through these, the smartest, safest, least embarrassing way is to follow another car through the tunnel. That way, if there is one coming from the other direction, your car doesn't get hit. The only other 'safe' way to do it is to honk your horn really loud, and hope the person coming from the other direction thinks it's a car, not geese.)

A cave.

Would you look at that expression of intent concentration! Doesn't that just blow you away! Ha, not!

Mom's camera is so much better than mine! Would you look at that zoom!!!!

Our visitor, little sis, Dad, MOUNTIAN!!!
See the comparison!!! O_o

A much, much, MUCH better picture on the Needle's Eye!

A random person, rock climbing. Once again, comparison!!!

Well, I have finally (Yes, I know what you all are saying to yourselves. "Gee, Rebekah! About time don't you think so!" And to answer your question, yes, I do think so know so.), finished Custer State Park Day 1!

*Note - Unless other wise noted, the only edits (on both this post, and on the blog in general) done to pictures, are rotations, and crops. ( I've included this in the 'Get to Know Me' page)

Hope you all have enjoyed!
And I will do my best to get Custer Park Day 2 up sooner than this one made it...
But no promises!!!

Love,
Rebekah

Update and Preview

Okay, I know I gave you a preview, and I know that the Peanut Butter Bars look (and tasted) so good, but due to no editing program on my computer, and finicky cameras, and school, and field trips, the post is not finished. My apologies. Really, I am sorry!

About those field trips.. we went to see some sites when a friend came to visit, so look for pictures of Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse, coming soon. Soon as in before next year if you are lucky when my schedule and technology permits. But, I won't leave you with nothing!!!

Custer State Park (Day 1)

Custer State Park (Day 2)

Wild donkey. These things stand on the road waiting for food. They stick their heads in your car window! They follow your car when you drive past! :)

Those brown dots are buffalo.

Yes! Silly pictures in the car!!! ( It kept me from feeling sick. Don't ask.)

Mount Rushmore!

And me! You can't get any better!!!

Working on the posts,
And school,
And chores,
And life...

Hope you enjoy!
Love,
Rebekah
